Philipp Oswald retires from the tennis stage in Kitzbühel!
The 38-year-old lost in the Gamsstadt at his last tournament in the first doubles round alongside Joel Schwärzler after a tough fight with 3:6, 6:2, 11:13 against compatriot Samuel Weissborn and Romain Arneodo.
Weissborn/Arneodo take a 3-1 lead with a break. The Austrian/Monegasque pair then serves confidently and secures the first set.
Oswald and Schwärzler miss four match points
But Oswald and Schwärzler hit back with two breaks in the second set and leveled the set. After a 9:6 lead in the match tiebreak, it looks like Oswald’s career will be extended by at least one more game.
