Union Saint-Gilloise: High Expectations and Strong Support for Upcoming Season

Union again surprised friend and foe in his third season at the highest level. Once again it narrowly missed out on the title, but with the Croky Cup it managed to win its first prize in no less than 89 years. This means that there is great enthusiasm for next season.

Just like in previous summers, Union will probably lose a number of trendsetters again, because players such as Machida, Puertas and Amoura are highly sought after. But the people of Brussels are already anticipating and have already signed three young Belgians for the new season: goalkeeper Chambaere and midfielder Van de Perre come over from KRC Genk, defender Stevens was plucked from AA Gent.

Optimism for the new season is high at Union

In addition, CEO Philippe Bormans and technical director Chris O’Loughlin also extended their contracts, meaning that two of the founders of the success remain on board. Union fans seem to be confident that they will be able to put together a strong core again next season.

This became apparent a few days ago when Union managed to raise an amount of 2.5 million euros in just an hour and a half to make an advance tax payment. And now they come again with some great news.

Subscriptions will be sent out in no time

After all, the subscriptions for next season have also flown out in no time. Barely half an hour after sales started, the last 600 subscriptions have already been sold. Union will still reserve a number of tickets for free sale, but it appears that the Dudenpark will regularly be full next season.

The start of the new season will arrive soon for Union. After all, their first official match is already scheduled for in just over a month. After all, on July 20 they will take on national champion Club Brugge in the Supercup.
