It has now been a week since the Pro B and National 1 play-offs ended. However, Caen Basket Calvados still has no certainty about some of its next opponents. If around fifteen clubs are sure to be in the French second division next season, others are awaiting a decision from the National Directorate of Management Consulting and Control (DNCCG).

They will be there to fight

Caen will have to redouble its efforts to perform in Pro B. Among the clubs guaranteed to be in the antechamber of the Elite, serious candidates will be taken into consideration. The CBC will notably meet Rouen Métropole Basket for a Normandy derby. In this tough championship, it should be noted the presence of Boulazac, finalist in the play-offs this season, as well as that of Vichy led by ex-Caen player Sébastien Cape. The latter are the winners of the Leaders Cup Pro B. Finally, Caen will be confronted with the elite of French basketball, just relegated from Betclic Élite, ADA Blois and Roanne intend to get back to work to heal their past wounds .

The list of remaining teams, confirmed in Pro B: Orléans; Champagne Basket; the Alliance Sports Alsace; the Antibes Sharks; Poitiers Basket 86; Saint-Chamond; Nantes Basket Hermine, Aix-Maurienne; Denain-Voltaire; FOS on sea.

They are in the waiting room

Caen is not at the end of its surprises, while sixteen teams are officially in Pro B, five clubs are in an interminable waiting period. Absolutely not masters of their destiny, Lille Métropole, Évreux, Pau-Lacq-Orthez and Limoges must await a verdict from the DNCCG. The misfortune of one person can make the happiness of others. This is what will happen in the coming weeks for these four clubs. Riddled by financial problems, Limoges, currently in Betclic Elite, and Lille, in Pro B, are at risk of relegation to amateurs, or even the disappearance of the club for the second. If for the Occitans, the DNCCG seems favorable to a place in Elite thanks to the arrival of a new president, the task seems to be complicated for the Lille people. After a second unfavorable opinion on June 18, the Northerners are on the brink of collapse. They have until the beginning of July to find a solution.

In Évreux, hope continues. Relegated sportingly at the end of the season, ALM’s only chance to save itself rests on a demotion of Boulogne-Lavallois to National, or even a disappearance of the Parisian club. Hit or miss ! Concerning Élan Béarnais Pau-Lacq-Orthez, the verdict of the DNCCG can only be positive. Finishing 7th in the regular season, the Palois are guaranteed to remain in Pro B. But if, against all expectations, Limoges is relegated and Boulogne does not survive, it is Pau which should be the club chosen to move up. Betclic Elite.

The case of the Metropolitans 92

It’s a cruel story. Only a year after the departure of his two prodigies in the NBA: Victor Wembanyama (San Antonio Spurs) and Bilal Coulibaly (Washington Wizards), Boulogne-Levallois is dark. Last of Betclic Élite this season, synonymous with relegation to Pro B, the Metropolitans 92 are struggling to find the financial means to save themselves. Despite this descent into Hell, there would still be a little hope for the Ile-de-France residents, the club would have found its new owner and potential investors. The Mets have only a few weeks left before submitting their project to the DNCCG, but the club seems on track to find its place in Pro B. A positive step forward, but the step still remains high before hoping to return to the top French basketball.

The Caennais will know all of their opponents in a few weeks. They will return to training at the beginning of August.
