TRIESTE – This afternoon in the city council room the fourteenth-century seal was awarded to Pallacanestro Trieste on the occasion of its return to A1. Present for the company were board member Paul Matiasic, vice president Fitzann Reid, general manager Micheal Arceri, investor Camille Castro; coach Jamion Christian, the entire team and staff. “Basketball has always been particularly important in Trieste – says Dipiazza – as a legacy of the presence of the American allies in the city until 1954. I have personally followed the fortunes of Trieste basketball for forty years. We moved from the old Palazzetto di Chiarbola to the Palatrieste We have spent fantastic years together, with successes and also failures which are naturally part of the games. This brings us to today. I congratulate this club, this coach and this team who have sown and are now reaping an important fruit Thank you very much on behalf of the city and the mayor, for what you have been able to express during this extraordinary sporting year, bringing prestige to the name of Trieste. I give you the fourteenth-century seal, one of the most important recognitions of the city.”
