Luka Doncic Addresses Frustration with Officials Ahead of Game 4

DALLAS – With the Mavericks teetering on the brink, Luka Doncic acknowledged his frustration with officials was a problem during the NBA Finals and vowed to take a different approach in Game 4 on Friday .

“Get back to playing and having fun.” We talk about how we come back from [21] points in the fourth quarter in the final. We were having fun. We were defending. We were running. Our pace was excellent. We were taking good shots,” Doncic said.

The Mavs’ comeback began after Doncic fouled out with 4:12 remaining. It was the first time in his career that he was ejected from a match in regulation time. He was called for four fouls in the fourth quarter, including his last two in a span of 26 seconds. He expressed his dissatisfaction with the refereeing after the match.

Doncic, as he tends to do, complained to the referees throughout Game 3.

The 25-year-old Doncic has admitted several times during his career that his tendency to argue with referees can be problematic. He did so again Thursday, saying officials “will have the final say” and he “needs to stay away from it.”

“I really want to win. Sometimes I don’t show it the right way, but at the end of the day I really want to win. I have to do a better job of showing it in a different way,” said the Mavs star player.

Doncic averaged 29.7 points, 9.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists in the first three games of the Finals.

Boston is only one victory away from its 18th title in its history.

In NBA playoff history, no team has won four games in a row after losing the first three (0-156, including 0-14 in the final series).

Of the lot, only four teams heated up their opponents by causing a seventh duel to take place.
