German National Football Team Reveals Squad for Test Matches and New European Championship Jerseys

Yesterday, the squad for the upcoming test matches and the new European Championship jerseys of the German national football team were presented. While there were a few surprises in the squad, it was the away jersey in particular that got some fans excited…

This is the provisional squad for the upcoming test matches

Although many people in this country are hardly or not at all interested in football most of the time, it feels like we have several million national coaches in Germany during the European Championships and World Cup čśë. In just a few weeks, from June 14th, the ball will be rolling again in this country when Germany hosts the 2024 European Championships.

Before that happens, there are a few test matches against France (March 23rd) and the Netherlands (March 26th) in the near future. National coach Julian Nagelsmann announced the squad for the two matches yesterday, Thursday: Aleksander Pavlovic (FC Bayern), Waldemar Anton, Maximilian Mittelst├Ądt and Deniz Undav (VfB Stuttgart) as well as Jan-Niklas Beste (1. FC Heidenheim) and Maximilian Beier (TSG Hoffenheim) have been nominated for the first time. Leon Goretzka (FC Bayern) and Mats Hummels (Borussia Dortmund), however, did not make it into the provisional squad.

And this is what the squad looks like:

  • Oliver Baumann (TSG Hoffenheim)
  • Bernd Leno (FC Fulham)
  • Manuel Neuer (FC Bayern)
  • Marc-Andr├ę ter Stegen (FC Barcelona)

  • Waldemar Anton (VfB Stuttgart)
  • Jan-Niklas Beste (1. FC Heidenheim)
  • Benjamin Henrichs (RB Leipzig)
  • Joshua Kimmich (FC Bayern)
  • Robin Koch (Eintracht Frankfurt)
  • Maximilian Mittelst├Ądt (VfB Stuttgart)
  • David Raum (RB Leipzig)
  • Antonio Rudiger (Real Madrid)
  • Jonathan Tah (Bayer Leverkusen)

  • Robert Andrich (Bayer Leverkusen)
  • Chris F├╝hrich (VfB Stuttgart)
  • Pascal Gro├č (Brighton & Hove Albion)
  • Ilkay G├╝ndogan (FC Barcelona)
  • Toni Kroos (Real Madrid)
  • Jamal Musiala (FC Bayern)
  • Aleksandar Pavlovic (FC Bayern)
  • Florian Wirtz (Bayer Leverkusen)

  • Maximilian Beier (TSG Hoffenheim)
  • Niclas F├╝llkrug (Borussia Dortmund)
  • Kai Havertz (FC Arsenal)
  • Thomas M├╝ller (FC Bayern)
  • Deniz Undav (VfB Stuttgart)

These are the new jerseys:

The jerseys that the German national football team will wear at the European Championships were also awaited with particular excitement. The home jersey comes in classic white. Only the black stripes on the sides and the black, red and gold stripes on the shoulders stand out visually.

Much more striking, however, is the official away jersey, which impresses with its pink and purple tones and diamond-shaped pattern. According to the supplier, the jersey is intended for “the new generation of German football fans and the diversity of the country”.

Reactions to the away jersey were mixed; while some fans described the jersey as something new/unusual, other fans complained about the choice of color(s) and the existing pattern and labeled it as unwearable.

Our questions to you: How do you like the new away kit? What do you like, what do you perhaps not like so much? How do you rate the provisional squad for the test matches? Which player do you think is missing from the list? Are you looking forward to the European Championship or are you not going to watch any games? And how far do you think the national team can go?

We look forward to your answers ÔÜŻ

Best regards
