[미디어투데이=지원배기자] Yeonnam Elementary School is conducting an ‘e-Sports Harmony’ activity in which all grades participate during lunch time during the month of June, which is receiving a great response from students.

The purpose of this activity is to cultivate students’ knowledge as democratic citizens by enjoying e-sports with their seniors, juniors and friends, engaging in healthy competition, and through this, respecting each other.

The target audience for this e-sports game is upper-grade (4th to 6th grade) students, and the events consist of three individual events: badminton, soccer, and swordsmanship, and three team events: volleyball, bowling, and tennis.

Students in lower grades (1st to 3rd grade) who have difficulty competing have time to experience e-sports (car racing) with the help of 6th grade students and are enjoying e-sports social events together.

A 6th grade student who participated in this event said, “I am proud to help my younger siblings experience e-sports and see them enjoying it.” He added, “I feel like I have become closer to my friends through this activity.”

Principal Seong Hae-soon said, “I hope that this will be a time when our students sweat hard and concentrate on the game, accept the results, and acquire virtues such as perseverance, self-control, and a sense of community.” He added, “Yeonnam Elementary School will continue to promote e-sports activities.” “By doing so, we will help students grow holistically and enjoy school life.”
