Football UEFA EURO 2024: Croatia vs Albania – Live Ticker – 2nd Group Matchday – 2024 in Germany

Bajrami has gained confidence from his first appearance against Italy, and that is noticeable – every attack so far has come from his left side.

But after just one minute, it is clear that Albania is making a bold start and is immediately going on the offensive.

The first 22 seconds are over and no goal has been scored. It’s worth mentioning when Albania is playing.

Game start

The countdown in the stadium is on, we are looking forward to a great football game!

The referee for the match is Francois Letexier from France. There have been some astonishing mistakes in the tournament so far – let’s wish him the best of luck.

The two coaches gave each other a very warm hug, and the fan camps are, as I said, almost united like brothers – let’s see how this plays out in the duels.

The anthems are played, it started with the Albanian one, now it is the Croatian turn.

So, things are slowly getting serious here in Hamburg – the teams are in the catacombs, now they are coming onto the pitch.

For the Croatians, it will be a matter of working on their effectiveness in attack. Curiously, after the defeat against Spain, they had almost all the statistics on their side: 56 percent possession, 53 percent won duels, a much better pass rate and 13:11 shots on goal. The problem is that of the 13 shots on goal, including one from the penalty spot, not a single one went in.

Manaj, who is under contract with Sivaspor, will start for Broja today. He provided enormous momentum against Italy after being substituted – he also had a huge chance to equalize in the 90th minute, which Italy keeper Donnarumma narrowly missed the post.

There is a surprise in the Albanian team. Star striker Broja from Chelsea FC has to go to the bench, he is actually the clear focal point up front. However, he was also absent for a long time this season due to a cruciate ligament tear.

The midfield of Qatar’s World Cup third-place team remains unchanged with star player and captain Modric, Brozovic and Kovacic. In attack, Petkovic will replace Budimir alongside the two Bundesliga players Kramaric (TSG Hoffenheim) and Majer (VfL Wolfsburg).

In addition, Stanisic from Bayer Leverkusen has to go to the bench and Juranovic from Union Berlin starts in his place.

Dalic has made a few changes for the second European Championship match. The former Leipzig player Gvardiol (Manchester City) will start as a centre-back, while former Bundesliga star Ivan Perisic will move into the starting eleven as a left-back.

Albania: 23 Strakosha – 4 Hysaj, 6 Djimsiti, 5 Ajeti, 3 Mitaj – 21 Asllani, 20 Ramadani, 14 Laci – 9 Asani, 7 Manaj, 10 Bajrami

Kroatien: 1 Livakovic – 22 Juranovic, 6 Sutalo, 4 Gvardiol, 14 Perisic – 10 Modric, 11 Brozovic, 8 Kovacic – 7 Majer, 17 Petkovic, 9 Kramaric

Let’s take a look at the lineups that Zlatko Dalic and his colleague Sylvinho are sending into the race. For the Croatians, Nikola Vlasiv had to leave the tournament due to a muscle injury.

And the Croatians, who are almost like brothers to the Albanians, should also be warned by their own performance in the first game. What Modric and Co. brought to the pitch in the 0:3 defeat against Spain was really nothing at all.

Nevertheless, the Albanians could not withstand the pressure from the Italians and lost 1:2 – but they almost managed to equalize shortly before the end. Croatia should therefore be warned.

The Albanians set a European Championship record in this first game against Italy: Bajrami scored after just 22 seconds, which was by far the fastest tournament goal in history.

The atmosphere here in the Volkspark is absolutely fantastic, the fans have completely put the opening defeats of the two opponents behind them. Albania coach Sylvinho was already overwhelmed by the support in the opening match against Italy – today it will certainly be similar.

A wonderful day, dear football fans! Your Sportschau team warmly welcomes you to what we hope will be a fantastic day at the European Championships. Before the highlight at 6 p.m. with Germany against Hungary, we now have another very interesting duel that kicks off at 3 p.m. in Hamburg: Croatia meets Albania – we hope you enjoy it!
