Hungary’s international player Barnabas Varga suffered a medical incident in the match against Scotland. Not much is known about it yet.

Hungary’s national football player Barnabas Varga was substituted in the last European Championship group match against Scotland after a medical incident. What initially looked like a collision with Scottish goalkeeper Angus Gunn appeared to have caused cramps in the 29-year-old for other reasons. After a free kick cross, Varga’s posture changed in the air without much contact. His worried teammates immediately called for help and carefully moved him to the side. Nothing was initially known about his condition.

Barnabas Varga carried off the pitch

After several minutes of treatment behind a screen on the pitch, he was substituted in the 74th minute and carried off the field on a stretcher. Varga scored Hungary’s only goal of the tournament in the 1:3 defeat against Switzerland. He is under contract with Ferencvaros Budapest.
