Denmark draws against Slovenia

The opening match in Group C of the European Football Championship on Sunday did not produce a winner. Denmark and Slovenia played a fair 1:1 (1:0) draw in Stuttgart. In the second match in this group, European runners-up England will face European Championship debutants Serbia in Gelsenkirchen today (9 p.m.).

The 1-0 for Denmark by Eriksen

Christian Eriksen, of all people, scored the opening goal for Denmark. The 32-year-old, who suffered a cardiac arrest in a match against Finland three years ago, scored on his comeback to the European Championships after a beautiful combination (17th minute). Slovenia improved after the break. First, ex-Salzburg player Benjamin Sesko only hit the post (76th minute), and shortly afterwards Erik Janza scored the deserved equaliser with a deflected long-range shot (77th minute).
