Winnenden Athletes Honored for Outstanding Achievements

The city has honored athletes from Winnenden and Winnenden clubs for their achievements. They received certificates and medals at the sports awards ceremony.

Clubs in Winnenden: 150 athletes honored

At the athletes’ ceremony last Saturday evening, the focus was on the successes of around 150 athletes. Mayor Hartmut Holzwarth and Annika Luckert, head of the sports department, welcomed the visitors to the Alfred Kärcher Hall. The city announces this.

The Winnender clubs and their members have made it onto many a podium again in the past few months. “It’s always nice to see how sport and club life bring people together. With your work in the clubs and teams, you, dear athletes and club leaders, make a significant contribution to the cohesion of society,” said Mayor Hartmut Holzwarth. This evening the focus was on the successes of the past year. The Winnenden athletes had plenty to celebrate.

Nine teams and 46 individual athletes trained diligently and achieved one or two successes, two of them at national and five at international level. The athletes received medals and certificates as recognition. The saxo ensemble of the city band provided the musical accompaniment to the evening. The performances by the Happy Hoppers and the show by football acrobat Alfred Reindl also drew enthusiastic applause.
