Piratas de Bogotá Secures Another Close Victory in Professional Basketball League

Piratas de Bogotá achieved another close victory in Bogotá against Cimarrones del Chocó, on another glorious afternoon by the American Jeremy Smith, to reach their second consecutive victory in the Professional Basketball League.

After winning by one point on Saturday, this time José Tapias’ quintet had to push themselves again to win 70-68, this Sunday, at the El Salitre Coliseum.

Pirates dominated the first half of the game: the first quarter ended 23-20 in their favor and then, at halftime, the difference seemed to be much more comfortable, 38-31.

Cimarrones came back in the third quarter and was much superior to the Bogotá quintet, thus turning the game around to be ahead by three points, 58-55.

The last quarter ended up being the decisive one for Pirates, with extraordinary defensive work and great effectiveness from Yesid Mosquera in free throws. Two of them, in the final seconds of the game, ensured the patch team’s victory.

Once again, Jeremy Smith was the most important player of the game for Pirates, with 28 points, 10 rebounds (9 of them defensive) and 5 assists. In the Chocoan quintet, Travion Leonard contributed 24 points, 11 rebounds and three assists.

Pirates were one point behind the leader

Piratas reached third place in the table, with a record of 2 wins and 2 losses, and has the same six points as the second, Titanes de Barranquilla. The leader is Toros del Valle, with 7 points.

The Bogotá quintet will return to competition on Thursday, when they play the first of two away games against Caribbean Storm.
