The Frenchman did not manage to sign the minimums for the European Championships.

Téo Andant, member of the French relay silver medalist at the 2023 Worlds in the men’s 4x400m, missed his turn during the Tokyo meeting on Sunday, taking fifth place in 46 sec 15.

In the Olympic stadium of the 2020 Olympics, postponed to the summer of 2021, the French champion remained far from his objective, which was to “validate the minimums for the European Championships at the beginning of June (45.40)”.

“I didn’t make the trip from Paris, I arrived on Friday. From the first part of the race, I felt like I didn’t have the legs. I’m off to a good start but I’m missing some juice.”explained the 24-year-old Frenchman, licensed at AS Monaco.

“I have to reverse the dynamic, it’s not going well. This is the first time I have traveled this far. I got involved in this competition, it’s a shame. That’s not what I show in training.”he regretted despite winter preparation in the southern hemisphere.

“This winter I spent a month and a half between Australia and New Zealand competing outdoors”declared the athlete who had achieved an early and promising time of 45 sec 59, getting closer to his personal best (45.18).

While waiting to know his fate for the European Championships in Rome (June 7-12) and the Olympic Games, Andant hopes to bring down the clock during his next outing, in Brussels.
