Cercle Brugge Goalkeeper Run Down by Club Brugge Fans: Update on Warleson’s Condition

Not everyone in Bruges enjoyed the storming of the field by Club Brugge fans yesterday. Cercle goalkeeper Warleson was unable to escape in time after the final whistle and was run down. “Luckily he is doing well,” Cercle said.

Even before the final whistle, Club Brugge fans were eager to rush onto the field on the sidelines. There was not much time for the players of Cercle Brugge to look for safer places.

Goalkeeper Warleson was knocked over during the storming of the field. “Cercle Brugge regrets that the physical integrity of our players was endangered on Sunday evening,” the Association said.

“Goalkeeper Warleson was knocked down during the storming of the field after the final whistle and was hit in the face. Fortunately, the Brazilian is not inconvenienced and is doing well.”

“The Bruges police services are investigating the case and tracking down the perpetrator(s).”

Club Brugge would have contacted his city rival to find out how the Brazilian goalkeeper was doing.
