(ANSA) – ROME, MAY 18 – Bayer Leverkusen crowned a special season in the Bundesliga by becoming the first team in the history of the championship to remain unbeaten for an entire season (28 wins and six draws). On the final day, the German champion team won 2-1 at home against Augsburg, also obtaining their 51st consecutive useful result in all competitions. Next week, the Europa League final with Atalanta awaits her and then the German Cup final.

The last round of the Bundesliga then decreed the relegation of Cologne and the salvation of Union Berlin, while Bochum will make the play-off against Fortuna Duesseldorf, a second division team. The season ended badly for Bayern Munich, beaten by Hoffenheim and overtaken into second place by Stuttgart. The Bavarians had not finished in the top two since 2010/2011, the last setback for coach Thomas Tuchel before leaving the club. While waiting for the Champions League final, Borussia Dortmund won but above all they celebrated veteran Marco Reus – he will leave the club at the end of the season and the last match will be played at Wembley against Real Madrid -, who wanted to greet the ‘yellow wall’ with a very welcome and generous gift: he bought beers for around 25,000 fans. On handwritten sheets hanging on the stands of beer sellers in the grandstand, Reus left this message: “Thank you for everything. The farewell beers are on me. Your Marco.” A beer costs around five euros, so if each of the 25 thousand occupants of the South had only had one, and it would be a rarity, the total cost would be 125 thousand euros. (HANDLE). .
