On April 16, the Hiratsuka Judo Association (chairman Haruji Okuyama) invited 26 instructors from the French Judo Federation, who were visiting Japan, to the city general gymnasium to teach them how to teach children.

This is part of the activities of JUDOs, a certified NPO that promotes international exchange through judo. Leaders from the federation will stay in Japan for five days starting on the 15th, conducting training aimed at improving their leadership skills. On his first day, the 15th, he visited the Tokai University Judo Club.

The federation’s leaders watched elementary and junior high school students practice, coached by Shujiro Sanada and others from the association. While practicing, they learned how to teach newaza, and after the training, they deepened their relationships by exchanging gifts and other activities.

France has one of the largest numbers of judo competitors in the world, as many children learn judo from an early age. A male leader from the country said, “I learned that it is more important to develop human strength than to seek strength.”
