Graham Potter Still a Contender for Ajax Trainer Position, Says Journalist

Graham Potter is still in the picture as the new trainer for Ajax. Johan Inan reveals this in the Football podcast from the Algemeen Dagblad.

Potter reportedly ended the negotiations himself, but according to Inan that is not correct. “What I understand is that he has not yet officially declined the vacancy. Ajax still sees him as an option. In fact, he is still at the top of the list,” assures the Ajax club watcher. “It is true that the suspension of Alex Kroes has not made it any easier.”

Inan knows that Kroes has visited several top clubs in England to establish ties with certain managements and get to know managers. “One of them was Graham Potter. That clicked,” said the journalist. “In the past international match they sat around the table together again, including Kelvin de Lang and Marijn Beuker.”

“Potter had a click with Kroes, he started itching to build a new Ajax with Kroes. Then he sees Kroes suspended,” Inan continues. “But it is not the case that he has now rejected the Ajax option.”
