Matteo Berrettini Set to Return to the Tennis Court in Phoenix for Challenger 175 After Press Conference Revelations

Matteo Berrettini will return to the field in Phoenix. It will be the first Challenger 175 on the calendar, broadcast on SuperTennis, the Roman’s first tournament of 2024. “I won’t be at Indian Wells, I’ve taken these weeks to be as good as possible and it won’t be a week more or less that will change things. Then I will play in Miami and the clay season” he explained in a press conference organized via Zoom.

Berrettini spoke of his great esteem, which was never hidden, for Jannik Sinner. “He is doing crazy things, we often write to each other. The fact that we are more united than ever from a sporting point of view has helped me, being next to him in Davis has acted as a springboard for me. I’m also trying to take something from him, from his approach. as a strong push to return. Seeing an Italian playing with me who is up there makes me want to get there too.”

The dream, he explained, “means playing the Internazionali BNL d’Italia in Rome which I missed for two years and my heart aches. Then winning a big tournament. But you have to start from the bottom, play 20-25 tournaments, have rhythm”.

During the conference he also made official the end of the relationship with Melissa Satta, “We are no longer together. What I can say is that we had a beautiful relationship, with great respect for each other. I won’t go beyond this, I don’t like sharing my private life too much. I have to thank her for this year lived intensely.”
