Liverpool Manager Klopp Offers His Job To Terminally Ill Sven-Göran Eriksson

King Klopp!

Our most important representative in England is once again showing his best side. This time he offered nothing less than his job as Liverpool manager – if only for a day.

Tragic background: Ex-England national coach Sven-Göran Eriksson has terminal cancer that is incurable. And an unfulfilled big football dream. As the Swede just revealed, he wanted to coach traditional Premier League club Liverpool FC his entire career. But nothing came of it – until now!

Jürgen Klopp (56): “It was the first time I heard about his admiration or love for Liverpool and that he was a fan all his life.” And further: “He is absolutely welcome to come here. And he can sit in my seat in my office and do my work for a day if he wants.”

Eriksson had just shared the bad news of his serious illness. Last year he collapsed while jogging. The doctors confirmed a stroke. Further examinations revealed the shock diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. Eriksson: “In the best case scenario, I have another year to live, maybe a little less.”

Klopp: “It was of course very moving news when we found out about it. (…) Having him here and showing him everything about how this wonderful club has developed over the years, I think we will definitely offer that to him. He can come over and spend a wonderful few hours here, I’m sure.”

In the prime of his career, Eriksson was considered an absolute tactics guru and influenced many coaches. The football traveler’s most outstanding club stop was probably Lazio Rome (1997 to 2001), where he won the capital city club’s second championship title in 2000 with stars like Nesta, Nedved, Simeone, Veron, Mancini and Salas. The result: becoming the first foreigner to be named Italy’s Coach of the Year.

From 2001 to 2006 he was England’s first foreign national coach, and in his long career he also looked after the national teams of Mexico and Ivory Coast, among others. And almost ended up in Germany: In 2013, Eriksson was supposed to be introduced as the new coach of 1860 Munich. After a long hiccup, he canceled.

His last coaching position was the national team of the Philippines (2018 to 2019). He may now be behind at his dream club Liverpool for another day.
