The Debate Over Tobias Schweinsteiger as the New Coach for TSV 1860 Munich

Many fans of TSV 1860 Munich would like Tobias Schweinsteiger to be the new coach of the traditional club. There are many voices on social media that speak out in favor of the ex-Osnabrück coach.

But Robert Reisinger doesn’t seem to be very enthusiastic about the 41-year-old. In an interview with the Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung (NOZ) (External link, paid content) The Lions president didn’t say anything directly about the search for a coach, but when asked about the name Schweinsteiger, he replied: “He has the smell of a stable, yes! But the wrong one!”

Tobias Schweinsteiger has FC Bayern past…

During his active career, Schweinsteiger played, among other things, for FC Bayern’s second team and worked as an assistant coach in the record champions’ youth team. The 41-year-old has been looking for a job since mid-November and was released from second division club VfL Osnabrück. In the summer, the Bavarian caused huge euphoria there with promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga.

…but is a member of the “Lion” fan club

The Rosenheim native has repeatedly publicly expressed his sympathy for TSV 1860 Munich and is even a member of a fan club. In an interview with the Munich Merkur, he said that lions have always played a role in his life.

But for Reisinger there is no reason for a job at the traditional club: “It’s all well and good that he says that. I’ll tell you one thing: I’m a Blue through and through. And you won’t hear anything about me on social media or anywhere else find a photo of me running around in a red jersey,” he is quoted in the NOZ.
