Team O’Doubs Raid: Completing the 100% Female Adventure in Sri Lanka

Team No. 25, called O’Doubs Raid, which participated in the Raid des Amazones and composed of the two Haut-Doubiennes, Sandrine Vuillaume and Angélique Lefèvre, completed its project. An adventure that lasted 10 days from March 19 to 29, 2023 in Sri Lanka.

“I wanted to stop smoking, I gained weight, Angélique offered to get me moving. She encouraged me to walk, then run, and then pedal the slipper and I got a taste for it.”

One day, Angélique saw a proposal from Alexandre Debanne who was recruiting Amazons for a 100% female adventure in Sri Lanka. On the program: walking, running, cycling, canoeing, archery, for the benefit of an association. No competition, no fight between the teams, but mutual help if necessary and above all sharing.

One goal: finish the adventure

“There were 280 French speakers of us, there were duos or trios of friends, a mother and her daughter, a 60-year-old grandmother, mothers, the fragile, the sporty, the fast and the slower. The goal was to get to the end of the test without wanting to achieve a feat at all costs and we talked about associations. We participated in OncoDoubs, helping patients during chemotherapy. These meetings with the other participants were of great human richness. We also discovered this very beautiful country where everything grows. »

The Amazons brought gifts, visited a school, picked tea, cooked in a resident’s home.

We cannot reason there like we do here. They have nothing, but seem happy. Since then, we are no longer the same, our relationship with goods, sport or people is different. We avoid judging. “Every woman has her story.”
