Success and Achievements of the Saint-Georges Judo Club Athletes in Provincial and International Competitions

JUDO. Athletes from the Saint-Georges judo club participated in the provincial kata championship in Beauport on November 26. This was a first experience at a kata competition for all Judo Beauce participants.

Led by coach Vincent Marticotte, the students of the Saint-Georges judo club all performed well, returning to Beauce with two medals and five black belt certifications. The duo William Maheux and Samuel L’spérance won a silver medal in the U23 category. Among the seniors, the female duo formed by Stéphanie Lachance and Leah Michaud finished in third position.

Other results

Ten judokas from the club participated in the Quebec omnium on November 11 and 12. This important competition brings together more than 1,000 athletes from Canada, the United States, Brazil and England. In the U14 category, Magalie Hins (-44 kg) finished in second position. Antoine Rancourt (-46 kg) finished in the same rank among the U16s. Édouard Soullière-Fabre (-60 kg) won the bronze medal in the same age category. Justin Rodrigue took third place on the podium in U18 ground fighting.

Charline Bourque (-70 kg) and Leah Michaud (-57 kg) participated in the Pan American Judo Championships, a competition sanctioned by the international federation, from November 16 to 20 in Montreal. Bourque won all his fights definitively against his Canadian compatriots. Thanks to this performance, she is now ranked 13th in the world. Michaud made it to the semi-finals, losing to Slovakia’s Jevgenija Gajic. In the bronze final, she lost to Canadian Alyssa Tkachenko, finishing fifth in this competition bringing together athletes from six different countries, including Oceania.
