Top Judo Team from Dominican Republic Prepares for Pan American Games in Chile

EL NUEVO DIARIO, SANTO DOMINGO. The top judo team left for Budapest, Hungary, to a training base with a view to their participation in the Pan American Games that will take place from November 20 to November 5 in Santiago, Chile.

The Quisqueyan representation is made up of nine of the 10 athletes classified for the Pan American Games, who will take part in the training base until the 19th of this month with the support of the Government, through the resources granted by the Ministry of Sports.

In addition to the preparation program, the judokas will have an exchange with the Hungarian national judo team.

Ana Rosa, at -57 kilos, and Estefanía Soriano, at -48, both Pan American champions in Lima 2019, lead the female platoon, which also includes Eiraima Silvestre, at -78 kilos, and Moira Morillo, at more than 78 kilos.

The men’s team includes Elmert Ramírez, at -66 kilos; Antonio Tornal, at -73 kilograms; Medickson del Orbe, at -81 kilos; Robert Florentino, at -90 kilograms, and José Nova, at more than 100 kilos.

Dominican judo will attend the Pan American Games in Chile with a total of 10 athletes, two more than the eight who took part in the continental event in Lima, Peru, and where they won five medals, including two gold.
