All RB fans now have to hope that Openda doesn’t catapult his goal rate to immeasurable heights. According to Sky, an exit clause is anchored in the attacker’s contract from summer 2025. It should be in the region of 80 million euros. With appropriate sporting development, the money would not be a hurdle for some top European clubs.

RB knows it all too well. Christopher Nkunku moved from Saxony to Chelsea in the summer for a good 60 million. The club would certainly have drawn a higher clause. Dominik Szoboszlai went to Liverpool FC for 70 million under a clause. Manchester City is even putting around 100 million euros on the table for central defender Josko Gvardiol, including future bonus payments. A year before a clause of a comparable amount would have taken effect.
