SC Heerenveen is currently in fifteenth place in the Eredivisie. Trainer Kees van Wonderen is heavily criticized by some fans. Club watcher Sander de Vries knows that next Saturday’s home game against Heracles will be an important match for Van Wonderen.
Is there a chance that Van Wonderen will be fired if he loses next Saturday? “If they lose to Heracles, it will be very difficult,” says De Vries Broadcaster Abe. “Then we are ten games away, almost a third of the way through the competition, and then you have seven points. Then you are just a relegation candidate. You have to be that honest, no matter how annoying it is to say.”
De Vries continues: “We have now played 43 competition matches with Kees van Wonderen. How many matches have there really been where you drove home and thought: well, I really had a nice evening or a nice afternoon? I’ll just come really up to about eight.”
“Vitesse away last year (0-4, ed), the derbies won against Cambuur and FC Groningen. Although those two clubs also finished seventeenth and eighteenth. You once had a nice first half against RKC and FC Utrecht, but I have often had times where I drove home and thought: well, well, well…”, says Sander de Vries.
