Los Angeles Lakers Announce Starting Lineup for 2023-24 Season, Hachimura Moved to Second Unit

The Los Angeles Lakers will officially kick off the 2023-24 season this Tuesday against the Denver Nuggets, the current champions of the competition. A game for which Darvin Ham has revealed his starting quintet, led by LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

The coach confirmed that Taurean Prince, who signed with the Los Angeles organization in free agency, will be one of the team’s five starters. This decision will move Rui Hachimura to the bench, where the power forward will emerge as one of the offensive leaders of the second unit, according to Ham himself.

Hachimura was a substitute in 36 of the 46 games he played last year, between the regular season and playoffs, with the Lakers, where he arrived in January from Washington. His offensive role was limited, with the 12.2 points he averaged in the postseason as the top scorer.

Now, Ham hopes that his renewal for three years and 51 million will be accompanied by greater scoring performance and greater responsibility on the court. Contributions that, for the moment, he will continue to make as part of the second unit, although his role could increase as the season goes by.
