The Lindenwood football team (2-3, 0-1 BS/OVC) returns to Big South-OVC Association play this Saturday. The Lions will welcome Tennessee Tech (1-3, 0-0 BS/OVC) for a 1:00 p.m. kick inside Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo.
The Lions are coming off a 52-10 loss to Austin Peay this past weekend. Lindenwood was effective on the ground last week, totaling 228 rushing yards, its second most in a game this year. So far this season, the Lions are averaging 101 yards per game running the ball.
Robert Giaimo is a big part of that, as the Bartlett, Tenn. native rushed for 103 yards on Saturday, going over the century mark for the third time this season. The redshirt sophomore paces the team averaging 108.4 all purpose yards per contest.
Justin Williams was responsible for Lindenwood’s only touchdown of the day, which was a 22-yard rush with just over six minutes to go in the fourth quarter. The 228 yards in the run game were the second most in a game by Lindenwood this season, 93 of them provided by Williams.
Defensively, Ethan Stuhlsatz was all over the field, totaling 11 tackles, while forcing and recovering a fumble. The Wichita, Kan. native leads the team with 37 tackles on the year. Taylen Blaylock recorded the teams first interception of the season in the third quarter.
The Lions and Golden Eagles will square off for the second time in program history. In last years meeting, Tennessee Tech squeaked out a 35-34 win in Cookeville, Tenn. In that game, Chase Lanckriet had 36 yards receiving and two scores.
Following this contest, Lindenwood will return to the road, taking on Charleston Southern on October 14 at 3:00 p.m. in Charleston, S.C.
