Jannik Sinner, sixth seed, defeated Grigor Dimitrov, 6-4, 3-6 and 6-2, and will be the rival of the Spanish Carlos Alcarazfirst seed, in the semifinals of the China Open, ATP 500 category, which is held on a hard court in Beijing.
The Italian, currently 7th in the world, was more than the Bulgarian (No. 19 ATP) but the match was marked by the serve, as evidenced by the fact that there were only four breaks of it: three in favor of Sinner (first and third set). and one for Dimitrov (second), who finished off the heats.
The Italian will now be Alcaraz’s rival in the semifinals, in a duel between the two most significant representatives of the New generation of tennis.
The two have already faced each other six times, with three victories each. The last one, in the semifinals of Miami 2023, fell on the Italian’s side. The other semi-final will measure the German Alexander Zverev with the Russian Daniil Medvedev.
