Former Sporting player Nico Rodríguez, dismissed as sports director of Granada

Granada CF fired Nico Rodríguez as the club’s sporting director this Thursday due to the team’s poor qualifying situation in LaLiga, as it is in relegation positions.

“The Granada Football Club and Nicolás Rodríguez Sánchez end their time as sports director of the club,” the Granada entity announced this Thursday in a statement.

Nico Rodríguez arrived at the rojiblanco club on June 2, 2022, so he has remained in office for less than a year and five months.

He will be remembered as one of the fundamental pieces in the making of the squad that ended the 2022-23 season as champion of the Second Division, achieving promotion to the highest category of Spanish football.

This season, however, Granada is in relegation positions in LaLiga, being penultimate with 6 points, after having won only one game in the first ten rounds, although for the moment Paco López remains the team’s first coach. .

The red and white club expressed its “most sincere gratitude” for the “effort, dedication and professionalism throughout this journey” of its former sports director and wished him “the best of luck in his professional future.”
