UNIVAS was launched in March 2019 with the aim of promoting university sports. We are working to improve the learning environment, create an environment where people can compete safely and with peace of mind, and increase the value of university sports as a whole. As part of this effort, the “UNIVAS AWARDS” is held every year.
This award system targets UNIVAS member universities, competitive organizations, and individual athletes affiliated with them, and recognizes student-athletes who embody UNIVAS’s ideals by achieving remarkable results not only in athletic performance, but also in enriching their studies and enlivening university sports. It praises the efforts of instructors, alumni, and groups. At last year’s awards ceremony, Yuhei Ono (Teikyo Heisei University), who won the bronze medal in the men’s judo 81kg category at the 2023 Asian Games, received the top “Man of the Year” award.
