EL NUEVO DIARIO, BARAHONA.- The executive director of the National Institute of Physical Education (INEFI), Alberto Rodríguez Mella, supervised this weekend the construction and renovation work of the Olympic stadium and other sports facilities that will serve as venues for the X Games Barahona 2023 National Sports Schools, to be held from November 7 to 17, in this city and its sub-headquarters in San Juan de la Maguana, Azua and Bahoruco.
Rodríguez Mella toured the grounds of the Nadin Hazoury baseball stadium where he said that “ball is almost being played on these grounds.” The executive director of INEFI also supervised the work of the sports center in this city known as the “Pearl of the South.”
The INEFI was also in San Juan de la Maguana where the renovation of the Hermanos Suárez baseball stadium and the judo, karate, table tennis and taekwondo pavilions are being carried out, as well as the baseball stadium at the Francisco del Rosario Sánchez school.
On that occasion, Rodríguez Mella declared that handball, judo, karate, taekwondo and table tennis competitions will be held at that sub-venue of the School Games.
Accompanied by several sports leaders from the area, Rodríguez Mella revealed that after years of abandonment, the Francisco del Rosario Sánchez school stadium will be rebuilt with everything required by law to turn it into an important stage for school baseball in the area.
“With the support of President Luis Abinader Corona and the Minister of Education, Angel Hernández, our team of engineers is working hard to make this place the main school playground in the Southern region,” he highlighted.
Rodríguez also announced that the Hermanos Suárez stadium, the main baseball park in the city of San Juan, will also be repaired.
During a meeting with the sports press of this city, the director of Inefi revealed that the investment in the works of the National School Sports Games reaches 600 million pesos.
