A new edition of the Argentine soccer superclassic is coming, a match that paralyzes the country and that begins to be played a long time before the opening whistle. In fact, Jorge Almirón himself, coach of the eternal rival, asked to “accommodate the date” to arrive at this match more rested. From Xeneize they tried a postponement that was unsustainable. The derby on the seventh day will be played as stipulated from the beginning.
Beyond the request of the riverside club, There was an extra-football situation that seemed to alter the normal course of the superclásico: the Electoral Board asked the Professional League that the match between River and Boca not be played on Sunday, October 1. The reason? That day there will be a presidential debate in Santiago del Estero and the Justice Department does not want the classic to steal all the attention on that day. An unprecedented request in the history of the most important match in Argentine football.
Finally, after several twists and turns, including attempts to modify and postpone the date, the superclassic of the seventh day has a confirmed day and time. The Professional League confirmed that River Plate will visit Boca Jrs. on Sunday, October 1, starting at 2:00 p.m. (local time). In this way, the match will be held in broad daylight, also complying with one of the requests of the security agencies of the City of Buenos Aires.
