Many talents left RSC Anderlecht. RSCA Futures was a bit decapitated and Nils De Wilde, among others, went to Cercle Brugge. The midfielder indicated through the club’s channels why he switched from Anderlecht to Cercle Brugge.
De Wilde to Cercle Brugge
De Wilde is an energetic midfielder with great running ability. He couldn’t quite get through with the Futures last year. Anderlecht did not put much in his way and did not break his expiring contract. Other talents were passed on.
De Wilde looks back with satisfaction on that season with the Futures. “That was definitely a positive experience for me. It is the second level in Belgium and it was a great opportunity for us as promises to measure ourselves against real professional teams.”
Kompany grateful
De Wilde clearly enjoyed working under Vincent Kompany. “Under Kompany I was able to train with the first team at Anderlecht for a period. Kompany was and is a trainer who believes in youth and who also gives youth plenty of opportunities. But when Kompany left I was put back to the second team.”
“I didn’t give up and became a regular in midfield. We managed to play in the promotion play-offs last season. That was also an experience in itself,” he said.
De Wilde started 16 times and came on 11 times. He then chose Cercle Brugge. “I was also open to taking a new step in my career. The project appealed to me. At Cercle, young players get plenty of opportunities. Here you can take steps, gain experience and also improve as a player.”
