Last July, Jean-Marie Dedecker (photo) again indicated to VRT NWS that he was holding discussions with the various Flemish provinces to see to what extent Lijst Dedecker had a future outside of West Flanders. It now appears that the option of reviving his former party has been abandoned.
Founded in 2007, the LDD remained below the electoral threshold in 2014. Dedecker returned to national politics in 2019, during the previous federal elections, pushing the N-VA list, but as an independent candidate. He had obtained numerous preferential votes and also sat under this status in the House during this legislature.
