Jabari Parker He is one of the big names that has landed in Europe this summer from the NBA. The Barça power forward has left an interesting reflection on the differences between the NBA and European basketball in an interview with Eurohoops. In it, he talks about how teams approach competitions and how that influences the leagues.
«I want to be part of something serious. I want to be part of something where every game matters. Unfortunately, the NBA is a business, there are like 10 or 12 teams that try to win every game and half of them are trying to get a good pick in the draft. Where does that leave the good players? You have to be either extremely good or bad to lose games. It doesn’t make sense to see people like DeMarcus Cousins, Dwight Howard or John Wall, guys who will possibly end up in the Hall Of Fame, see that they don’t have a team. “I think the average level of the league is going down, unfortunately.”
Furthermore, Jabari Parker explained how his signing for Barça came about:
«I didn’t want to wait. I didn’t want to have to go through the grueling process of trying to find an NBA team to give me a chance. As soon as I had conversations with Mario Bruno Fernández I came to Barcelona, they made me an offer that I couldn’t refuse. I decided this was the best place for me.”
Jabari Parker debuted this weekend with Barça in the Endesa League, with a great level of exterior success, scoring 12 points in just 13 minutes on the court.
