Manchester City successfully defended their lead in the Premier League – Erling Haaland was once again the decisive man. In the 5-1 (2-1) win against FC Fulham, Europe’s Footballer of the Year scored three goals (58th/70th, penalty kicks/90th + 5) and thus secured the fourth victory for the English champions and Champions League winners fourth game.
Haaland also set a new record right at the start of the season. Because he also provided the assist for Julian Alvarez to make it 1-0 (31st), the Norwegian has already had 50 goals after just 39 games in the Premier League: 41 goals, nine assists. In doing so, he bettered the record set by former England international Andy Cole, who had needed 43 games to do so.
“Getting better and better from now on”
“Every year at this club it’s like this: we start a bit sloppy because we have to play until the last game of the season because we’re the best club,” said Haaland, “it’s clear we’re going to get better and better from now on .”

Tottenham Hotspur won in a similarly clear manner and also with a triple goal scorer at FC Burnley: In the 5: 2 (2: 1) against the promoted team, former Bundesliga professional Heung-Min Son first equalized to 1: 1 (16th), later then the hits to 4: 1 (63rd) and 5: 1 (66th).
