Czech Tennis Players Shine in Tournaments Around the World

After the US Open, there are other tournaments held on hard surfaces. In San Diego, the women’s 500 started and Karolína Plíšková entered it right on the opening day, but she lost to the Ukrainian Kalinin. In doubles, the top seeded pair of Barbora Krejčíková and Kateřina Siniaková started with a win, while Miriam Kolodziejová finished the game. In Osaka, Japan, Linda Fruhvirtová was unable to end her losing streak. Petr Nouza and Andrew Paulson managed the final round of qualification at the big clay challenger in Szczecin, Poland. Sára Bejlek succeeded in the opening round of doubles at the WTA 125 event in Ljubljana, Slovenia. Michaela Bayerlová and Gabriela Knutsonová advanced to the main singles competition there. Other Czechs presented themselves during the day at smaller businesses in the ITF category.

Fruhvirtová failed in the overplay
The suffering of Linda Fruhvirtová (68) continues. The 18-year-old Czech lost her eighth match in a row when she did not manage the end of the match of the opening round of the WTA tournament in Osaka, where she did not have enough against the British Harriet Dart (161) and fell in sets 5:7, 7:5, 2:6.

The duel between these players was interrupted at 1:1 for sets and was played out during Tuesday’s program. Fruhvirtová lost her serve twice at the end of the set and was unable to do anything as a result.

Krejčíková and Siniaková did not hesitate
Barbora Krejčíková and Kateřina Siniaková successfully overcame the first round of doubles in the American San Diego. The Czechs beat Caroline García and Demi Schuurs 7:6(4), 7:5.

Kolodziejová finished in San Diego
Miriam Kolodziejová and Oksana Kalashnikova lost in the opening round of doubles at the WTA tournament in San Diego, USA, to Tereza Mihalíková and I-fan Su. The Czech-Georgian pair lost the duel, which lasted almost two hours, 6:7(6), 6:4, 6:10.

Paulson and Nouza qualified in Poland
Andrew Paulson (350th) defeated fourth-seeded Steven Diez (250th) from Canada 6:3 and 6:1 in the final round of qualifying on the clay challenger in Szczecin, Poland. The main competition will also be played by Petr Nouza (806th), who surprised the strongly favored Carlos Taberner (307th). He defeated the ninth seeded Spaniard 7:5 and 6:4.

Two Czech women qualified in Ljubljana
Michaela Bayerlová (448th) and Gabriela Knutsonová (204th) qualified at the WTA 125 event in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and will thus play the main competition on the clay there. The first named outclassed Zoja Peternelová (-) in Monday’s final 6:3 and 6:1. Knutson then lost just two more games, beating Andrea Gamizová (597th) from Venezuela 6:4 and 6:2.
