The Romanian selection is in the group of Ireland, South Africa, Scotland and Tonga at the World Cup.
Former Clermont and Scotland coach Vern Cotter is joining Romania’s coaching staff for the World Cup in France (September 8 – October 28), the Romanian Rugby Federation announced on Monday.
«I am delighted to be part of Romania’s World Cup adventure. I supervised the preparation since the Rugby Europe Championship (won by Georgia in April, editor’s note) and I will be involved as an adviser for the World Cup in the hope that the Oaks (les Chênes, editor’s note) will progress, play well and , above all, exceed everyone’s expectations“, explained Cotter in a statement posted on Twitter, retitled X.
The New Zealand technician, coach of the Auckland Blues Super Rugby franchise since July, was Fiji coach until February. He notably passed through the bench of Clermont (2004-2014) then Montpellier (2017-2019), after leading the Scottish selection for three years (2014-2017).
Romania, which has participated in eight of the nine editions of the World Cup, was paid into the terrible pool B, with the South African world champions, the Irish world N.1 but also Tonga and Scotland.
