The RFEF opens integrity proceedings and convenes an Extraordinary General Assembly for this Friday 25

MADRID, 22 Ago. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has indicated this Tuesday that its “internal proceedings” are open, referring to “integrity issues”, and has convened “urgently” an Extraordinary General Assembly for next Friday, August 25 (from 12:00 noon) at its headquarters in the Ciudad del Fútbol de Las Rozas (Madrid).

“Based on the latest events that occurred during the award ceremony for the Women’s World Cup won by the Spanish team last Sunday in Sydney, we would like to inform you that the internal proceedings of the Federation regarding integrity issues are open, as well as the rest of the applicable protocols”, reported the federative press release.

The president of the RFEF, Luis Rubiales, kissed without permission the forward of the Jenni Hermoso team during the delivery of medals to the new world champions. Despite the subsequent apology through a video of Rubiales, he has been urged to resign from various entities in the world of sports and also politics.

To this end, and after the different Territorial Federations have been postulating on this matter throughout this Tuesday, the RFEF has confirmed the urgent call for an Extraordinary General Assembly five days after what happened.
