God Tlaloc’s Intervention: A Look at Suspended Baseball Games and Unexpected Victories

By Jesus Alberto Rubio

Curious: In ’71 Saraperos was up 3-0 against Charros de Jalisco, one away from being crowned in the LMB, but what happened in the fourth game?: God Tlaloc appeared and the day was suspended. Then then, “Cananea” Reyes and his unforgettable team won the following and to be crowned.

I make that reference because if he noticed in the semifinal series of the southern zone of the same circuit, the same thing happened after Puebla was 3-0 against Águila….

However, the rain also came and prevented the fourth game and, when hostilities resumed, uff! the glorious Águila won the next four in a row… and the one with the great coronation before his own Jarocho fans in the Beto Ávila that was bursting on Thursday night!

God Tlaloc, then as from time to time it becomes “miraculous”.

Now the Buenos Aires team faces the 2022 champion, the Yucatan Lions and we’ll see.

Last night the Lions scored a 2-0 victory in the first game of the Zone Series at the Beto Ávila Stadium.

The Red Devils also triumphed (6-3) against the Pericos de Puebla. More details on the LMB page.

On other fronts they will also be defining their pass to the final of their respective zones, Sultanes de Monterrey and Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos, as well as Algodoneros del Unión Laguna against Toros de Tijuana.

Mexican Baseball Fiesta in Tucson

Yesterday the twelfth edition of the Mexican Baseball Fiesta in Tucson was presented at a press conference in which Naranjeros de Hermosillo and Yaquis de Obregón will participate. Águilas de Mexicali and Mayos de Navojoa in addition to the team from the University of Arizona who have joined this event for the last 3 years, which takes place from October 5 to 8.

Mike Feder and Francisco Gámez, founders of the event, presented this year’s edition in the company of the Mexican consul in Tucson, Rafael Barceló; Juan Aguirre General Manager of Naranjeros, Eduardo Meza of the Águilas de Mexicali, coach Chip Hale of the Arizona Wildcats, as well as Frank Gámez of the organizing committee, directors of Visit Tucson, Vamos a Tucson and different sponsors. On the Orange Trees page, the details.

Yankee Chance

The setback two days ago (and yesterday/sixth loss in a row) left the Yankees (60-62) in last place in their East division.

Even so, he has an expectation against Toronto to achieve the last place in the Wild Card of the American League.

New York dropped two games below .500 for the first time this late in the season since going 57-59 on Aug. 31, 1995.

Loa details on the subject and even especially around Aaron Aaron Judge, Gleyber Torres Giancarlo Stanton, DJ LeMahieu and Anthony Volpe, in MLB:

In the loss (8-3) of the NYY against Boston, Aaron Judge hit his 23rd home run, while for the Red Sox Alex Verdugo was dispatched with the big spoon: 3-for-5, with three produced and with that offense he now averages .275. In his offense he gave his double 31.

MLB Mexico: There are already seven saves for Andrés Muñoz (Seattle). The mochitense hung the zero in the ninth inning and preserved the 2-0 whiteout against Houston. Julio Rodríguez hit his 21st home run for the Mariners.

Meneses & Urías

Interesting: Joey Meneses had a day of two hits and five runs produced (new personal best) with his Nats on Thursday and has already reached 130 hits this season. (As of yesterday – he went 0-for-5 against the Phillies – he is hitting .280 with eleven home runs and 68 RBIs.)

For his part, Luis Urías, now of the Boston Red Sox, he hit what was his first career MLB grand slam. Remember, Magdalena de Kino’s pride was acquired from Seattle during the trade window and let’s hope she’s already the starting second baseman for the New England team.

Hector Luis Burruel: Undoubtedly, a great advance in the sports relations Mexican Baseball Fiesta in what we could call a Sonora-Arizona sports meeting.

On the other hand, interesting how the possible negotiation of Shohei Ohtani is already beginning to move when he becomes a free agent. It is estimated about 800 million dollars for 12 years. We will see what franchise supports that amount.

YES, YES! Miguel Cabrera connected his double 14 of the year and 622 of his career; he is now two away from Hank Aaron’s all-time record and ranked 13th in that specialty in MLB.

The Atlanta Braves legend retired with 624 in 1976.

Also, with his double he surpassed Mel Ott by one in the 11th place in RBIs of all time (1,868).

And, write it down: He has 3,148 hits, bringing the 40-year-old within four of tying Paul Waner for 18th in MLB history.

The Venezuelan is heavy.
