Is he preparing to leave?
Shocking news for the Milwaukee Bucks! Superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo commented on a possible contract extension in an interview with the “New York Times”. The “Greek Freak” placed some conditions on the franchise. It is unclear whether the Bucks can also fulfill these.
Giannis commented on his contract situation to NBA journalist Tania Ganguli: “The question is not whether I will extend this year here. It doesn’t make sense from a financial point of view.”
“Next summer makes more sense for both parties, but even then I’m not sure,” said the Bucks superstar.
The Greek is now in the third year of his five-year, $228 million Supermax contract but has the option to opt out of the deal as early as 2025. Beginning Sept. 22, the Bucks can offer the two-time MVP an early extension of three years and 173 million. In the summer of 2024, however, another year at the maximum salary would be possible.

Antetokounmpo also commented on the new coach Adrian Griffin. The Bucks are Griffin’s first stop as head coach. After losing the first round last season, the Bucks parted ways with Mike Budenholzer.
“We have to wait and see how things develop,” Giannis warned. “How’s the coach doing? How do we fit together as players? My teammates and the organization know that I want to win a championship. And as long as we’re all on the same wavelength and I don’t get the feeling that there’s a rebuild going on here, I’m all on board.”
