(ANSA) – ROME, JULY 04 – Controversy among the Tour de France riders is mounting after yesterday some cyclists had punctures due to tacks and thumbtacks thrown “by some imbecile” on the road shortly before the finish in Bayonne .
The French Lilian Calmejane, after the stage, posted a video on social media showing her wheel with a dozen white thumbtacks stuck in the tyre: “Thanks for this kind of human idiocy. I think I wasn’t the only victim punctures in the finale. Know that you can fall and get really hurt with this kind of nonsense,” wrote Calmejane. Alexey Lutsenko was among the many who had a puncture yesterday, forced to change bikes during the race.
Already during the first stage many cyclists had punctured due to the presence of nails on the road. (HANDLE).
