Three riders forced to retire, many bruised and the race neutralized to allow for rescue following a bunch crash at the start of the 14th stage of the Tour de France, Annemasse to Morzine Les Portes du Soleil, 151.8 kilometres. Just five kilometers from the start, in a curve taken on a wet road, dozens of riders ended up on the ground. South African Louis Meintjes, from Intermachè, suffered a broken collarbone and was taken away by ambulance. Antonio Pedrero (Movistar) also retired due to the consequences of the crash, as did Esteban Chaves (EF), while Adrien Petit, Meintjes’ teammate, restarted with difficulty.
