Carlos Sainz has been only 25 thousandths from the sprint pole in Spa, which has been for the World Championship leader Max Verstappen
Fernando Alonso has fallen to the bottom of the grid due to an Aston Martin error, which has left him out of Q3
Max Verstappen (Red Bull) has once again been the fastest in the ‘Sprint Shootout’ of the Belgian GP F1 2023although this time he had less of an advantage, since Oscar Piastri was 11 thousandths behind with the McLaren and Carlos Sainz was third, 25 thousandths behind with the Ferrari.
Fernando Alonso’s position for the sprint race to be held this afternoon at the Spa circuit is not as positive as Sainz’s. The Spaniard fell to the bottom of the grid (15th) due to a mistake by Aston Martin, who fitted Stroll’s car with medium dry tires during Q2. The Canadian crashed causing a red flag that left Alonso with no material time to complete his fastest lap and the two drivers from the Silverstone team were left out of Q3.
