Calvin Bassey recently said goodbye to Ajax. He made his first minutes at his new club Fulham in England yesterday. Trainer Marco Silva was impressed.
Bassey was allowed to come on in the second half in the friendly against Chelsea. The Whites were already 2-0 behind at that time and that turned out to be the final score. After the game, Silva spoke briefly about his recent purchase. “It was his first 45 minutes. I told him I didn’t want to see anything brilliant or extraordinary from him. I wanted him to start simple so he could have some confidence. And he did that perfectly,” the trainer told the club channel.
In any case, confidence in Bassey is great. “If he gets to know his teammates even better, knows the patterns and principles, then he can show even more. Also on the ball. He is a very strong boy. It is only a matter of time before he is fully integrated,” said Silva.
