WTA ranking. Swiatek remains in front and Rybakina completes the top 3

One more week the number 1 will continue in the hands of a woman who continues to see her competitors from a privileged place, but equally deserved. Every Swiatek will extend his stay at the head of the WTA ranking after conquering Roland Garros for second consecutive Year. The Pole used unparalleled seniority to close a tough game against Karolina Muchova, who also manages to reflect his spectacular tournament in the ranking. This victory places Swiatek for another week in first position, closely followed by his most direct rival, Aryna Sabalenka. Besides, Elina Svitolina gets a huge reward thanks to his shooting on the Parisian slopes.

Sabalenka stays close to Swiatek but it’s not enough

The Belarusian had exuded aggressiveness and power in the tournament until Muchova stopped her dead in the semifinals. With this defeat, Sabalenka could not fight to rise as number 1 since it did not end up giving a final between the first two seeds. Although Sabalenka did not leave empty-handed, as she added 415 points that give her a total of 8,012 and that places her a little closer to the Polish who has 8,940. Therefore, Swiatek manages to defend the 2,000 points achieved last year. and thus deny the possibility to the Belarusian to reach her position.

One of the most significant jumps in the standings has to do with Karolina Muchova, who advances 27 squares and is ranked 16th after having slipped into the final in Paris. The two great weeks for the Czech have placed her in an unprecedented position in her career with 2,295 points, very close to the top 10. Without a doubt, Muchova can be proud of her great tournament, of having beaten the number 2 in the world and of to have stood up to Siwatek.

Rybakina completes the top 3 with Swiatek and Sabelenka

On the other hand, the entry into the top 10 of Beatriz Haddad Maia is noteworthy. The Brazilian rose 4 places thanks to her good work until the semifinal round, falling to number 1. Jessica Pegula falls to fifth position and is surpassed by Carolina García and Elena Rybakina. And it is that the Kazakh is already there, in third position for the first time in her career and completing the top 3 along with Swiatek and Sabalenka. Rybakina had to withdraw before playing the third round due to physical discomfort, but she is still in the fight. Although she has 5090 points, a much lower amount than her two most direct rivals, the truth is that the season takes many turns and she still has to defend many of those points.

Minor changes in the Top 10

In addition, Ons Jabeur surpasses Coco Gauff, placing herself in sixth position, which means that the Tunisian is gradually recovering her competition rhythm and good feelings after the return from her injury. For her part, the American loses a large number of points by not being able to defend the final harvested last year, 870 points specifically. And it is that she fell to Swiatek in that final and fell to her in the quarterfinals of this year. Even so, it is her best result on clay after not having found the feeling with this surface in previous tournaments. In addition, Daria Kasatkina leaves the top 10 and Petra Kvitova moves up one place to number 9. Finally, along with Siwatek, Maria Sakkari will not budge either and continues to occupy eighth place after a tournament from which she left too early, although she did not much more than last year.

Svitolina advances like a missile and Sorribes gets a high reward

However, the woman who can boast of moving up the rankings insanely is Elina Svitolina. The Ukrainian advances a whopping 119 places to place number 73 with 797 points. Svitolina played a very good tournament, exuding confidence and a greatly improved physique that has given her wings to continue believing in a 100% return to the circuit. The Ukrainian can stand up proud next Monday, because little by little she is recovering her level since she was a mother.

As for the Spanish, Paula Badosa loses 5 positions after not being able to play the Parisian tournament due to a vertebra injury, which places her in number 34. But, on the other hand, Sara Sorribes will be number 82 after adding 50 positions in this Roland Garros, thanks to having reached the round of 16.
