Ulm with Klepeisz wins first BBL final game

Ulm’s basketball players started the “Best of five” final series of the German Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) on Friday evening with an away win. Güssinger Thomas Klepeisz and his colleagues won at Ligaprimus Baskets Bonn with 79:73 (42:35).

The 31-year-old guard and captain contributed nine points, two rebounds and two assists in 21:13 minutes. The second encounter in the duel for the title will also take place in Bonn on Sunday (6 p.m.).

Klepeisz ends with a free throw

Ulm was also victorious in the fifth play-off game abroad. For Bonn, however, it was the first home defeat of the season that was coming to an end at the 22nd start. Klepeisz scored the final point in the exciting game with a converted free throw.

The 19-year-old Viennese David Fuchs was not used in Ulm. Klepeisz and his teammates dedicated the victory to longtime Ulm team manager Andreas Klee, who died unexpectedly last week. “That was the least we could do today,” said Klepeisz.
