After everything that happened to him, it is easy to understand that Günther Gorenzel would like to flee from the third division soccer team TSV 1860 Munich. After the decision to release coach Michael Köllner, investor deputy Anthony Power had already sent him an e-mail in March in his usual straightforward manner: “You have to leave the club immediately.” When Gorenzel took over as coach for a few games – and lost a lot of points – investor Hasan Ismaik analyzed the SZ concisely: “We went into crucial games without a capable coach.” And he also denied Gorenzel the competence to plan a squad suitable for promotion for the coming season: “If you set someone a goal year after year and give them the means to achieve it, and they don’t make it, they will never make it .
