Bremen – A real transfer hammer is in the offing at SV Werder Bremen: Apparently Naby Keita from Liverpool FC is about to make a free transfer to the Weser. This is reported by “Sky” and “Bild”.

Naby Keita should already complete the medical check in the coming week and then sign a contract until 2026. The connection between the Green-Whites and Keita is said to be Johannes Jahns, Werder Bremen new squad planner. The two know each other well from Salzburg, where the 28-year-old played from 2014 to 2016.

Changed for 30 million euros Naby Keita then to RB Leipzig before going to Liverpool two years later for twice the amount. He made 58 appearances in the Bundesliga and scored 14 goals. In the Premier League, Keita made 84 appearances (seven goals) in four seasons. Now it seems his way back to the Bundesliga for SV Werder Bremen respectively.

The 52-time Guinean international (12 goals) is at home in central midfield, where he can be used both offensively and defensively. During his time in Leipzig, Keita had quickly made a name for himself in his position, eventually becoming the legitimate successor to club legend Steven Gerrard in Liverpool. In the end, his footsteps were far too big, but the trophy cabinet kept filling up. Problem: Naby Keita was plagued by injuries, never playing more than nine games in a row during his five years at Anfield.
