Year after year, the club chaired by Philippe Périnin is progressing to reach unprecedented levels at the end of the 2022-2023 season. First of all, with ninety licensees (twenty more than last year!), two-thirds of whom are under 18, the numbers have never been so high. As a result, Asgu basketball was able to hire a team in each championship category, from U7 to U17, but also in seniors (a first for ten years), thanks to the young people who stayed at the club.

To allow all these teams to play their matches, many volunteers are needed to transport them, hold the score table, prepare snacks… Tasks carried out by educators and parents, who are very involved in the section.
In terms of sports results, we should rather look at the second part of the rankings, but things could change, starting next season. Indeed, during the plenary assembly held on Saturday, in the presence of representatives of the municipalities of Urzy and Guérigny, as well as the president of Asgu Omnisports, Philippe Périnin presented a recruitment project for an apprentice in BPJEPS basketball training (professional certificate for youth, popular education and sport). Supervised internally by the club’s coaches, his role will be to advance the players individually, but also in the collective, without forgetting the management of the teams during the matches. Case to follow, especially since the financial cost will be higher than the current vacations of the speaker of the club of La Charité-sur-Loire.
Finally, the section received a sum of €11,260 from the Departmental Council (as part of the participatory budget), which enabled it to acquire an additional notice board and motors to maneuver the baskets ( they should be installed soon, promised Jean-Marc Emery, deputy mayor).
In addition to these purchases will come the acquisition of a 32-seat mobile grandstand. If all these announcements materialize, the club should enter a new dimension.
